Every server runs on electricity, water and hardware that eventually gets replaced. Computing has a footprint, even when it happens in someone else's data center. We'd rather be honest about ours than pretend it isn't there.
Being straight about it
We don't own the buildings our servers run in, so we won't make claims we can't back up. What we can do is make careful choices, help our customers waste less, and tell you what we learn.
What we do today
Pay for what you use.
Hourly billing means you can shut down a server you're not using and stop paying for it. Idle machines waste power, and we'd rather you turn them off.
Right-sized plans.
We help customers pick the plan they need, not the biggest one we can sell. Our Help Me Choose tool asks about your work, not your budget.
What we're working toward
Measuring first.
We're working out how to estimate the footprint of the servers we run. We'll share the method and the numbers once we have them, and set goals from there.
