A snapshot is a copy of a cloud server's disk. You can deploy new servers from it in any location, or restore it over an existing server. Snapshots are billed by the GB each month, on their compressed size; the price is shown on the Snapshots page.
Taking a snapshot
Choose Storage › Snapshots › New snapshot.
Name it, and pick A cloud server.
Choose Take snapshot.
The server keeps running while it's taken. It takes a few minutes, longer for a big disk.
You can also make a snapshot from a raw disk image on the internet. Choose An image at a URL, or Deploy › Snapshot from a URL.
Using a snapshot
Open the snapshot's menu:
Deploy a server from it: pick a size with enough disk.
Restore over a server: replaces a running cloud server's disk with the snapshot, and it reboots. Everything on that server now is lost.
Rename.
Delete: gone for good. Servers deployed from it aren't affected, and billing stops this hour.
Your account can keep up to 10 snapshots. Bare metal servers can't be snapshotted.
