Automatic backups

Turn on backups, set the schedule and restore a server.

Last verified

Automatic backups are for cloud servers. They're priced as a share of the server's price, shown when you turn them on.

Turning them on or off

  • Tick Automatic backups when you deploy.

  • On an existing server, use the switch under Add-ons on its page.

  • Or choose Turn on next to the server on Storage › Backups.

Setting the schedule

On Backups, choose Schedule next to the server. Pick:

  • how often: Every day, Every other day, Every week or Every month

  • the day, for weekly or monthly backups

  • the time, in UTC

Choose Save schedule. The latest backups are kept, and older ones are dropped as new ones are taken.

Restoring

  1. Open Backups for the server.

  2. Choose Restore next to a backup.

  3. Type the server's label to confirm.

The server is overwritten with the backup and reboots. Anything written since that backup is lost.

Bare metal servers don't have automatic backups.
