Hosting renewals and failed payments

How hosting renews, and what happens if a payment fails.

Last verified

Hosting renews automatically at the end of each month or year, at the plan's price plus tax. It's paid the way you've chosen under Renewals paid on the hosting's Billing card; see Paying renewals by balance or card.

If a renewal payment fails

  1. We email the account owner, issue an unpaid invoice, and show a notice on the hosting page.

  2. We keep trying. Your balance is used as soon as it covers the amount, and your card is tried again after 1, 3 and 5 days.

  3. If it's still unpaid 14 days after the first failed attempt, the website and email are suspended. Your files are kept.

  4. 30 days after suspension, the hosting account is removed and its files, email and databases are deleted.

Paying the renewal restores a suspended account automatically.
