Note:

Before you start

This guide is for servers running Windows Server. If you chose Ubuntu, Debian or Rocky Linux, you connect a different way.

Find your server's details

Sign in to the client portal, open Servers and choose your Windows server. Its overview shows everything you need.

IP address
203.0.113.24 (example)
Username
Administrator
Password
Select Show to reveal

Keep this page open. You'll copy the address and password in the next step.

Connect from your device

I'm connecting from
  1. 1Select Start, type Remote Desktop Connection and open it.
  2. 2In Computer, paste your server's IP address, then select Connect.
  3. 3Enter the username Administrator and the password from the client portal.
  4. 4The first time, Windows asks whether to trust the server's certificate. Select Yes.

Change the password and add people

Once you're in, change the Administrator password to one only you know. Then give each person in the office their own login instead of sharing one, so you always know who did what.

Warning:

Don't share the Administrator login

Anyone with it can change or delete everything on the server. Give staff their own accounts with only the access they need.

If something goes wrong

It says it can't connect
Check the server shows as Running in the client portal and that you copied the whole IP address. If you added a firewall, make sure Remote Desktop (port 3389) is allowed from your office.
The password doesn't work
Copy it from the client portal rather than typing it, and check the username is Administrator. If you changed it and forgot it, contact support from the email on your account.
The screen is too big or too small
In Remote Desktop Connection, open Show Options, then Display, and choose a smaller size. In Windows App, edit the PC and change the display setting.
