Hourly or monthly? Why a full month costs the same.
There's no choice to make when you deploy, and no penalty for picking wrong. Here's how the 672-hour cap works, with real numbers.
The short version
Every SERVERIZZ plan has a monthly price in whole dollars. Its hourly price is that monthly price divided by 672. Your server bills for every hour it exists, and once it reaches 672 hours in a month, billing stops until the next month starts.
So a server you delete after an afternoon costs an afternoon, and a server you keep all month costs the monthly price, to the cent.
Where 672 comes from
672 hours is 28 days, the length of the shortest month. Capping there means February, April and July all cost the same, even though July has 72 more hours in it.
Hourly isn't a different plan. It's the same plan, counted more finely.
Three ways to run a Pro server
Pro is $32 a month, which makes it $0.0476 an hour. Here's what three very different months look like.
| How you use it | Hours | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| A test server for an afternoon | 5 | $0.24 |
| A staging copy for ten days | 240 | $11.43 |
| Production, all of a 31-day month | 744 | $32.00 |
That last row is the cap at work: 744 hours, billed as 672.
When hourly saves you money
- Testing an update on a copy of your site before it goes live.
- A staging server for a client review that you delete afterwards.
- Extra capacity for a seasonal rush, removed when it's over.
The one catch
Stopped servers still bill
And extensions?
Same rule. DDoS protection is $15 a month or $0.0223 an hour, and it stops counting at 672 hours along with the server. Prices are in US dollars before sales tax.
